Pour Over Filter
Share
A simple brewing guide for a 1 person pour over filter. Suitable for a Hario V60 or other similar filter cone.
We recommend:
60g coffee/1L water for regular coffee.
70g coffee/1L water for decaf coffee.
1. Prepare your V60: Place your pour over dripper on a carafe/mug, on top of your scales. Place a paper filter in the dripper.
2. Weigh and grind coffee: Boil the kettle. Grind 18 grams coffee to a medium grind size. Add the ground coffee to the filter and gently shake to level.
3. Bloom: Start the timer. Pour 40 mL of water (just off the boil) over the grounds to saturate them. Let the coffee bloom for 30 seconds.
4. Brew: Slowly pour the remaining water over the coffee in two equal pours, using a circular motion. Remove the filter cone before the water completely drains through. Enjoy.
Adjustments:
- If the coffee tastes bitter and/or the brew time was too long, try a coarser grind.
- If the coffee tastes sour and/or the brew time was too short, try a finer grind.
Ready to brew? We think the V60 works great with all of our coffees, particularly the medium and lighter roasts. Try them out and let us know what you think!
