Inverted Aeropress 'Espresso'

Inverted Aeropress 'Espresso'

A simple brewing guide for short, strong 'espresso' style coffee using the inverted Aeropress method.

Dose: 20 grams

Grind: Fine-Medium (12 clicks on Comandante)

Water: 80mL just off the boil

Time: 60s

Method:

  1. Prepare your Aeropress: Place a paper filter in the filter holder and rinse. Secure the plunger, and invert the Aeropress on top of your scales.
  2. Weigh and grind coffee: Boil the kettle. Grind 20 grams coffee to a fine-medium grind size. Add the coffee to the Aeropress.
  3.  Brew: Start the timer and pour 80mL of water (just off the boil) into the Aeropress. Stir thoroughly and lock the filter cap into position.
  4. Invert and Press: After 1 minute, place your cup on the Aeropress and carefully invert. Slowly press the coffee through the filter. Enjoy!

Adjustments:

  • If the coffee tastes bitter try a coarser grind and/or a shorter brew time.
  • If the coffee tastes sour try a finer grind and/or longer brew time.
