Laurina, also known as Bourbon Pointu, is a distinctive low-caffeine coffee varietal originating from Île Bourbon, now Reunion Island. With a caffeine content of just 0.5–0.7% by weight, Laurina offers a milder alternative to the typical 1.2% found in other Arabicas. Sourced from Nueva Granada coffee farm in Guatemala, this coffee is grown between the Tajumulco and Tacana volcanoes. The farm provides ideal growing conditions under the shade of Inga and macadamia trees. Despite cultivation challenges, Laurina is prized for its delicate flavor profile and mild caffeine content.

What is Lo Caf coffee?

Our Low Caf coffees are varieties that naturally contain around half the caffeine content of typical arabica coffee varieties. These coffees, such as Laurina, typically have a caffeine content between 0.5% to 0.7% by weight, compared to the usual 1.2% found in standard Arabicas. Caffeine acts as a natural pest deterrent, making low caffeine coffee plants more challenging to grow.

Yes to low caf

A happy compromise for my wife who normally drinks decaf and myself who would opt for full caf. Much better than having to make two brews.

Perfectly roasted beans

I love this coffee. The beans were perfectly roasted and made a thick crema. We will buy it again.
