Laurina is a rare, naturally low-caffeine variety of the Arabica species, first identified on Réunion Island in the 18th century. Its compact, pointed seeds typically contain just 0.4–0.6% caffeine by weight - significantly lower than standard Arabica - and are prized for their high sweetness and delicate body.
Finca Bonita Springs is located in Panama’s lush Alto Lino region, where the Miró family has cultivated coffee for over 80 years. Currently managed by Yessie Hartmann - a fourth-generation member of the renowned Hartmann family - the farm continues to build on its legacy of producing high-quality coffee.
Spanning 36 hectares, Bonita Springs is rich in biodiversity and nourished by rivers, streams, and natural springs - conditions that foster expressive, nuanced coffees. The farm benefits from a rare combination of cool Atlantic mists, warm Pacific breezes, and consistently high humidity. This unique climate mosaic creates ideal conditions for cultivating distinctive, high-quality coffees.
After picking, the Laurina cherries are first fermented for 36 hours and then slowly dried on raised African beds for 2-3 weeks. Once the moisture content reaches 13 - 14%, the coffee is rested for several weeks to allow internal moisture to stabilise. After this resting phase, the coffee is transferred to a dark, humidity-controlled room for final drying until it reaches 10.5% moisture. Due to the delicate nature of the Laurina variety, the process includes additional manual selection and extra care at every stage to preserve quality and consistency.
Expect a soft body, mellow acidity, and floral notes upfront with apricot, honey and caramel finish. A gentle but complex cup.

What is Lo Caf coffee?
Our Lo Caf coffees are rare coffees that naturally contain less caffeine than typical arabica varieties. Laurina, a low-caffeine arabica variety, usually contains 0.4% to 0.6% caffeine by weight. Aramosa, a hybrid of arabica and the low-caffeine species Coffea Racemosa, typically ranges from 0.6% to 1.0%.
For comparison, most arabica coffees contain 1.4% to 1.6%. These low-caffeine plants are harder to grow—since caffeine helps defend against pests—which makes Lo Caf coffees both distinctive and limited in supply.
For our Lo Caf coffees we lab test our raw (‘green’) coffee for caffeine content before roasting. Testing is conducted using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) – a widely used analytical technique for separating and quantifying compounds in food and drink.

What our customers say about our Lo Caf coffees
They’re “metropolitan millennial problems” for sure but my tastebuds have become pretty “numb” to most coffee varieties these days. My partner works for a roastery, so I’m constantly exposed to a rotation of different coffee varieties, but after a while, they all start to blur together.
But this is the first coffee in a long time that’s actually stood out. Calm has really nailed the story tasting notes, not just for this one but for a couple of others I’ve tried too, because for once, I can actually TASTE what’s been described.
The Daterra is just a gorgeous coffee. It’s smooth, rich, and full of flavor, perfect for an early morning start or a mid-afternoon pick-me-up without the jittery buzz. It really does feel like a treat when I’m setting it up for drinking!
I am loving this coffee at the moment, it tastes beautifully fruity. I have been brewing this with my aromaboy filter brewer and it's the perfect afternoon pick me up without being too much!
A happy compromise for my wife who normally drinks decaf and myself who would opt for full caf. Much better than having to make two brews.
I love this coffee. The beans were perfectly roasted and made a thick crema. We will buy it again.
